A Review of Deep-Learning-Based Approaches for Attenuation Correction in Positron Emission Tomography

نویسندگان

چکیده

Attenuation correction (AC) is essential for the generation of artifact-free and quantitatively accurate positron emission tomography (PET) images. PET AC based on computed (CT) frequently results in artifacts attenuation-corrected images, these mainly originate from CT PET-CT mismatches. The combined with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner (PET/MRI) more complex than PET/CT, given that MR images do not provide direct information high-energy photon attenuation. Deep-learning (DL)-based methods improvement have received significant research attention as alternatives to conventional methods. Many DL studies were focused transformation into synthetic pseudo-CT or attenuation maps. Alternative approaches are dependent anatomical (CT MRI) can overcome limitations related current CT- MRI-based ACs allow quantification stand-alone scanners realization low radiation doses. In this article, review presented dual-modality PET/CT PET/MRI scanners, addition status progress DL-based approaches, improved performance AC.

Attenuation Correction Strategies for Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography and 4-Dimensional Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography.

This article discusses attenuation correction strategies in positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and 4-dimensional PET/CT imaging. Average CT scan derived from averaging the high temporal resolution CT images is effective in improving the registration of the CT and the PET images and quantification of the PET data. It underscores list-mode data acquisition in 4-dimensional ...

X-ray-based attenuation correction for positron emission tomography/computed tomography scanners.

A synergy of positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) scanners is the use of the CT data for x-ray-based attenuation correction of the PET emission data. Current methods of measuring transmission use positron sources, gamma-ray sources, or x-ray sources. Each of the types of transmission scans involves different trade-offs of noise versus bias, with positron transmission scan...

Attenuation correction in cardiac positron emission tomography and single-photon emission computed tomography.

Quantitation in cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) depends on being able to correct for several physical factors that tend to distort the data. One of the most important of these corrections is the correction for attenuation. For PET, cardiac attenuation correction is a reality, although certain problems remain to be solved. For SPE...
